Moving day

I am lost in my mind,
floating far from
what those around me call reality.
Eyes closed, breath shallow,
body trembling.
I feel the road beneath us.
In the night, perhaps,
we my lift away from the asphalt
and go join with the void
and sail eternally amidst the icy stars.
But no, for fear has partnered with anxiety
as we move on, irrevocably,
with the city lights fading
and the traffic dissipating,
pealed back by an ominous dark
which envelops the headlights
and our own vehicle,
bringing us with haste
to abide with a living nightmare,
a fiendish intent beyond my worst expectations.
A dream gone all wrong somehow,
my confusion is so very
soon to have a name.
